Senior/Project Structural Engineers (Bridge Design)  - (Orange County):

Biggs Cardosa Associates, Inc. currently has an opening in our Orange County office for two Senior Structural Engineer (Bridge Design) or Project Structural Engineer (Bridge Design). The preferred candidates will have at least 6 years (and preferably 10 years) of relevant bridge design and engineering in California.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design of a variety of different transportation structures, including prestressed concrete and steel bridges, pedestrian bridges, rail bridges, culverts, retaining walls, etc.
  • Managing the engineering effort for bridge projects of various sizes, and coordinating tasks with other engineers and supporting engineering disciplines
  • Leading and mentoring junior-level engineers
  • Leading the production of structural plans, details, specifications and structural calculations
  • Performing quality control for structure plan sets
  • Writing technical memorandums, specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports
  • Developing plans, details and specifications for vehicular, pedestrian and rail bridges
  • Developing cost estimates for bridges and transportation structures

The ideal candidate(s) will be committed, organized, technically sound and will work well in a group environment. The ideal candidate(s) will have:

  • California PE License (must have)
  • California SE License (not required, but a plus)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (not required, but a strong plus)
  • A minimum of 6 years (and preferably 8 years) of experience in the bridge structure industry for a Project Engineer position
  • A minimum of 9 years (and preferably 12 years) of experience in the bridge structure industry for a Senior Engineer position
  • A minimum of 2 years of the above experience in California
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO code, and all Caltrans bridge design manuals and procedures
  • Knowledge of AREMA code a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills

Project Engineer - Structural (Fresno):

We are seeking a Structures Project Engineer, with a California P.E. and 5 to 8 years of design experience on building or bridge projects. The ideal candidate graduated with Bachelor’s Civil/Structural degree or Master’s Structural degree from an accredited U.S. Institution and has shown stable employment with increasing responsibility. Experience should show ability to work independently, lead the production of structural calculations and the preparation of structural plans. Strong technical skills are essential.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in the most exciting transportation project of this generation, the construction of America’s first High Speed Train. The position is in our Fresno office, in the heart of California. Salaries are competitive with those offered in the San Francisco Bay Area or Southern California, but at a fraction of the cost of living. Fresno is 1 hour from Yosemite, 2 hours from skiing and 2-1/2 hours from the beach.

Entry Level Structural Engineer (Orange County):

We are seeking an entry-level structural engineer with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. Institution. A Master’s degree is desirable but not required. An EIT certification is desirable but not required. The ideal candidate ranks in the top 10% of his or her class, with a Civil or Structural Engineering degree and an interest in a career in structural engineering.

Assistant Project Engineer Needed

Job Title: Assistant Project Engineer

Job Description:
Assist in the preparation of design, specification and details for structural engineering construction projects. Assist with layouts of structural drawings, and specifications. Assist in the preparation of specifications detailing calculations, design, and analysis. Assist in preparation of production contract documents and quality take-off and cost estimates. Draft all documents in compliance with local, regional, and state building codes.

Job Location: San Jose, CA and various unanticipated locations throughout the US as assigned which may require relocation.
