New graduate engineer with Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.  At the beginning level of building or bridge engineering work, uses prescribed methods, standards techniques and practices to perform beginning level engineering assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Typically possesses 0 – 2 years of experience.

 

Job Description:

Recent graduate engineer with Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, and one or more years of engineering work experience. Performs common engineering tasks, requiring application of standard techniques and procedures with minor supervision.  Receives supervision from experienced engineers on non-routine, complex projects and assignments. 

Typically possesses 1 - 3 years’ experience. Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering considered equivalent to one year of relevant full-time engineering work experience.

 

Job Description:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with several years of complex engineering work experience, and growing mentoring and supervisory experience of entry level engineers and technicians. Acts as the technical leader for smaller engineering projects, and works under general supervision for complex projects. Establishes design criteria and performs a variety of skilled professional engineering work in the office or field.  Independently applies standard engineering techniques and procedures, and professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions.  Primary responsibilities include preparation of technical reports, construction support, structural design, structural drawings, structural specifications and cost estimating.  Responsibilities may at times include, direct client contact, including cultivating repeat business opportunities, and coordination with approving, regulatory or permitting agencies.  

Typically possesses  5 - 8 years’ experience.

 

Job Description:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with several years of increasingly more complex engineering work experience, and minor supervisory experience.  Works mostly independently under general supervision, establishes basic design criteria and performs a variety of skilled professional engineering work in the office or field.  Independently applies standard engineering techniques and procedures. At times leads an entry level engineer or technician. Demonstrates growing professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions.  

Typically possesses  2-5 years’ experience. Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering considered equivalent to one year of relevant full-time engineering work experience.

 

Job Description:

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with significant and complex engineering work experience, and responsibility for technical performance of several concurrent small-to-medium projects, and designated tasks on large or complex projects. Regularly directs, supervises and mentors a team of 3 to 5 engineers and/or technicians.   Establishes design criteria and performs a variety of skilled professional engineering work in the office or field.  Proficiently applies engineering techniques and procedures, and uses good professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions. Demonstrates strong technical proficiency; and good communication, organizational, team building, technical writing and technical leadership skills. Anticipated project types include a wide variety of bridge and infrastructure projects, for Caltrans, Transportation Agencies, local agencies or developers.  Primary responsibilities include leading field reviews, writing technical reports, leading the structural design or check of structural calculations, structural drawings, structural specifications and cost estimating, working with approving agencies for project approvals, overseeing review of construction submittals, and structural observation.  Responsibilities may include direct client contact and some business development, including, cultivating direct client contact and repeat business, assisting in business development pursuits, assisting in project administration and management of prime contracts , and coordination with approving, regulatory or permitting agencies.   

Typically possesses 8 - 12 years’ experience. Valuable additional qualifications include design-build experience, rail bridge experience, and Structural Engineer (SE) registration.
