LSI Logic - MMC Technology - GemfireThese projects included the seismic anchorage of over 100 mechanical units, testing and manufacturing assemblies and piping and support frames. Raised access floors as high as 36-inches, and equipment as heavy as 12,000 lbs were anchored within a class 10 clean room for MMC Technology. Equipment anchorage was designed and installed for both upper floor and rooftop locations for LSI Logic. For Gemfire, the tenant elected to do a voluntary seismic upgrade to the building, as well as roof & floor mounted equipment anchorages and raised access floor installations.

Lockheed Building 153A Solar Array Test FacilityThis structure is a 180’x105’ high-bay clean room for testing satellite solar array panels. Biggs Cardosa designed the building using structural steel framing, including the 105-foot clear-span roof trusses which were designed to support the roof, catwalks and 30,000 lbs of mechanical units, and to act as portal frames for additional building rigidity. The project included four one-ton monorail hoists on curved tracks to support panel testing equipment. |

Newby Island Resource Recovery ParkBiggs Cardosa provided structural engineering services for the renovation of an 80,000 sf recycling facility. The project included installation of $60M worth of the latest recyclery machinery and equipment, employee offices and areas, shop facilities for the truck fleet, a new CNG Fueling facility for 41 fill points, massive new electrical substation installation, new loading dock area, new scales, and new storage and container shops, and 3 acres of site work and heavy traffic section paving. This plant will process all of the trash and recycled materials from all of San Jose’s commercial business and many residential areas until at least 2027.

Lam Research Tool and Equipment AnchorageBiggs Cardosa has provided structural engineering services for Lam Research Corporation for more than 15 years. In addition to engineering many of the buildings owned by the corporation, we have been the engineer on numerous major build outs of existing buildings that Lam has leased. Our work with Lam includes providing all structural engineering for seismic anchorage and support of the tools and equipment at their Fremont campus in California.

Sonoma County Fleet BuildingThe Sonoma Fleet and Materials Lab Building is 21,000 sf and was designed with a high-bay maintenance area for servicing light vehicles and a low-bay area that includes a materials testing lab, office space and storage areas. The facility provides maintenance and repair services for the county’s vehicle fleet and includes a laboratory for testing of construction materials used in road and building construction. The facility was designed to incorporate solar panels on the roofs and bio-swales on site that capture storm-water runoff and improve ground water absorption. Inside the service area, radiant heating and insulation regulate temperature fluctuations, providing a comfortable work environment and allowing for sensible energy use.
